".ws" is a fairly new top level domain. It is not a country... the 'ws' stands for 'web site'

In fact... since you are doing some computer graphics in school, you would probably enjoy this very cool "flash movie" that happens to be about ".ws" domain names... If you type your name into the form, the characters speaks to you by name during the movie!
